Preamplifier - November 2008 Monthly Master Class Date: Thursday, November 27th Time: 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. Location: Precursor Productions, 218 Marion Street Aside from the microphone, the preamplifier is the next most important element of the recording signal path. This seminar looks at this essential analog device in greater detail. We will explore the history behind analog preamplifiers, including a survey of some famous vintage microphone preamplifiers and why their sound is still sought-after today. Along the way we will explore different types of preamplifiers and the relationship between accuracy, harmonic distortion and musicality in their design. Precursor monthly master classes offer an in-depth look at a single audio production topic. Each session will examine the history, theory and practical application of that topic in one 3-hour seminar. Each subject is examined in a comprehensive manner, so prior knowledge is not required. This approach also allows us to go into greater depth than in our regular classes, making this course a useful supplement for anyone involved in music production. Call us at 231-3981 or use our online application form. We look forward to seeing you at the seminar. |
